Can I use a top round roast in place of beef stew meat?

I want to make a beer braised beef recipe, the recipe has bacon garlic onion beer a bay leaf and calls for 2 pounds cubed beef stew meat and I am wondering if I can cube a top round roast and use it in place of the stew meat, the method of cooking will be in a slow cooker on low for 6 hrs.
