I have dead space for my 360 and I'm stuck, can anyone help?

Im in ch. 7 into the void and i have to plant a beacon on this asteroid thats blocking something. I stopped the 2 tethers on the inside but i dont know how to get to the ones on the outside and i tried planting the beacon inside but those moving belts keep killing me
