Is a clingy baby a happy baby?

My son tends to be a little clingy. He likes to grab my finger and hold onto it. I can lay him down on the bed or sofa with me and he'll be grabbing and feeling my face, shirt and hand. When I hold him to rock him to sleep, he loved to suck on his pacifier but he'll forcefully bring down my hand with it and use both of his hands to hold my hand down. Once asleep on the bed, he would relax and fall asleep quickly if he holds my finger while he sleeps. Eventually he lets it go once he's deep asleep. Does this mean he really loves me or is it something else? Personally I love it, makes me feel really special. He's only 3 months old. He does this with me and his father.
